Everyone has an AI practice now

Open any Indian IT services website and there is an AI page. Ask what has shipped and the answer is usually a chatbot proof of concept and a slide deck. That is not a criticism of the firms — it is what happens when a category moves faster than delivery capability.

The gap is not ambition. It is the distance between a demo and something a client depends on.

What separates the two

A demo works on a curated input. A shipped system handles the input nobody anticipated, degrades sensibly when it is wrong, and has a human check at the point where being wrong is expensive. Most of the engineering effort goes into the second and third of those, which is why demos are fast and products are slow.

Where it genuinely pays back in marketing and sales

Proposal drafting, first-pass lead research and qualification, mining call transcripts for recurring objections, localising content for different markets, and keeping a technical content pipeline running without three writers. Unglamorous, measurable, and none of it will make a conference stage.

How to talk about it without joining the theatre

Describe what shipped and who uses it. That is the whole strategy. In a category where everyone claims capability, the firm that describes a working system in specific terms sounds different by default.
